What others say...

Here's what other people have to say about SEMRITS.   more...

About Us

SEMRITS was founded in 1997 with one goal: to bring great learning resources to New Zealand and Australasia. Currently more than 5 years old, SEMRITS has expanded tremendously both in terms of subjects and schools served. We currently ship directly to over 200 schools throughout New Zealand and the Pacific.

SEMRITS Concept

SEMRITS was founded by a group of young New Zealand lads who did Bursary in 1997, and hated their textbooks. We decided we could do better than the drab, dull and lifeless study guides which not only bored students to tears, but failed to explain concepts well.

With literally no study resources out there, it was difficult for teachers and students alike to know what information to follow. SEMRITS first guide, The High Renaissance, was initially released in Auckland but after phenomenal succcess went New Zealand-wide only 2 months later. SEMRITS quickly established itself as the provider of Bursary Art History resources in New Zealand, with two more guides in 1998 (American Art since 1945 and Towards Abstraction), and additions from other authors in 1999 and 2001 (Modern New Zealand Art and Fauvism and Expressionism). SEMRITS is now New Zealand’s leading supplier of Art History guides to the market and ships in a number of other exciting flavours including Physics and Economics.

SEMRITS motto is 'by students - for students'. We believe that - having gone through the experience recently ourselves - we're in a unique position to write guides which are actually helpful! The most common complaint from students these days is that study guides do not give them a clear outline of how to succeed in a bursary exam. We hope to do this - the main focus of the book is giving information which will help students do well.

SEMRITS Authors

SEMRITS draws from a wide range of backgrounds for its authors, but most have finished High School less than 3 years previously. We believe this means the authors actually know what students are facing and are therefore more likely to design material which helps them.
Behind SEMRITS authorship team is a network of education professionals - both in Colleges and Universities around the country - which provide consulting support on new guides.
